But the imporant point is this, "Astrologers believe that an astrological age affects humanity, possibly by influencing the rise and fall of civilizations or cultural tendencies."
Sanctuary is based on the premise that it isn't "just the stars" or the "stars alone" that influence the rise and fall of not only earth but "nearly all" fictional worlds.
That Sanctuary is THE central world ... the world which has the greatest influence on all other worlds.
In essense, for as far back as we can reasonably imagine, these two great dragons, Ancalagon and Jormungandr have allowed the gods and their followers a chance to battle for this small cradle of civilization to determine the "general tendancy" of all known worlds.
Obviously, not all fictional worlds currently have a christ and a trump ... but then not all worlds exist in the exact same time as now, such as Lord of the Rings world might actually have aligned with earth at a much earlier time period.
It doesn't really matter, because we are not writing a thesis paper, just establishing a foundation that says "Why are we all fighting for supremacy."
Thus knowing the entire history of the world would be rather too much, because it is just huge cyclical change on a grand scale where different kingdoms come into power, and then the power shifts. What the players need to know is what has been happening since they started arriving ten years ago.
Obviously, heroes from other worlds have been arriving for millennia.
So to put it into perspective, if we were to guess what happened on Sanctuary, based on what happened on Earth ... at some point (the rise of christ) the kindom of Emlyn came into full power and has sustained it. In around the 70's (sexual revolution) there was a big pushed by the kingdom of Raeyithia, then there was a serious threat by the Kingdom of Andus representing the whole middle east fear, and now we have the scary councils of Kraestret influencing Emlyn with behind the scene politics.
