The Aelfeyn consider themselves the first race, though they are not the only who claim such. Those Aelfeyn born on Cuiveinen are all half-elves in some manner or other, as all true pure-bloods have disappeared or died off in the last two thousand years.

The Aelfeyn are almost always ruled by a Lord and Lady, regardless of gender. When there is no Lord and Lady present to rule them, they always turn to worshipping whatever divine force most closely resembles this pairing. This category is for the races of people who are seen as being more than human, and are generally considered to be tall, elegant, with long hair and unusual eyes. Elven-style races who born Aelfeyn and then become dragons in later years are considered Aelfeyn and not "true" dragons like those of the Muiri or Hoggur dragons.

Unlike Muiri, the Aelfeyn's natural form is always humanoid; but many have gained the ability to shape shift into other natural animal forms, primarily birds and mammals. Some Muiri dragons may appear similar to Aelfeyn in their glamoured form, but the relationship is not even skin-deep. (See exception below)
